Perry Saturn born Perry Satullo was born in 1967 in Cleveland OH. From the age of 13 he was bounced from detention home to detention home to escape the abuse of his stepfather. "My stepfather was a real jerk; he would constantly abuse me," says saturn. When I was 5 years old, I saw wrestling for the first time and thats when I said, I bet no one hits those guys. Thats when I first wanted to be a pro wrestler. By the time I was 7 or 8, I probably had more ass whippings than most have their whole life." At age 17 he joined the Airborne Ranger unit in the Army. He performed his basic training in Alabama and his Ranger School in Fort Benning, California. To date, he has executed 107 jumps. "The army helped me for wrestling with discipline," says Saturn. Years later Satullo moved to Boston MA where he got married and began his wrestling career wrestling for shows held by "Killer" Kowalski. On October 27, 1990 in Waltham Ma Perry made his wrestling debut in the United States wrestling Federation. Saturn wrestled in other independent wrestling organizations like the International Wrestling Federation as "Iron Horseman." Dressed in a black leather cowboy hat, matching vest and chaps he became the IWF light heavyweight champ. While managing a rock-and-roll club in Boston he met former Eliminators partner John Kronus who at the time was a bouncer for the club. "John would watch wrestling on TV at the club, and when I'd wrestle on one of "Killer" Kowalski's shows, I would bring in the videotape, and we would watch it. Kronus was interested in becoming a wrestler, so I sent him to Kowalski's pro wrestling school." explained saturn, "Something clicked between us, and I later asked John to be my tag-team partner." The two, known as the Eliminators went on to wrestle in the USWA and later joined ECW were they captured the ECW Tag Team titles three times. But on May 31st, 1997 in Trenton, New Jersey Perry suffered a career threatening injury to his left knee. While executing a front kick he landed on a crutch that had been thrown into the ring. He suffered a torn anterior crucial and meniscus ligaments, cracked knee and a broken tibia. The reconstructive surgery lasted four and a half hours. The doctor had to graft a new ACL using one third of perrys patella tendon. The knee would take nine months to a year to heal. "This injury put a tremendous emotional strain on me. The hardest part was not being able to wrestle, but it also made it much more difficult to do the daily things we all take for granted like answering the door or phone, and no matter how much medicine I took, the pain was always there." says saturn of his injured knee. But saturn ignoring the pain worked hard to rehabilitate his knee. After only 12 weeks the knee was almost completely healed. As the rehab process continued he decided he wanted to try wrestling on his own, but he felt he wouldn't get that opportunity in ECW. So in August he signed a deal with the WCW, who would give him the opportunity to compete solo. On September 8th he wrestled a Nitro dark match against Kidman, who was not yet a flock member. He then joined another former ECW star named Raven and soon became the "Enforcer" and most successful member of the Flock. The first man in the Flock to hold a title. On November 3, 1997 he beat the Disco Inferno for the WCW TV title using his devastating submission hold called "Rings of saturn". But the following month he lost the belt back to the Disco Inferno. Today Saturn is on his own. He is no longer associated with Raven and his flock. *G* | |||||||||||||||||
